Obama to Lincolnize Campaign
According to Political Wire Sen. Obama may formally announce his presidfency in Lincoln's hometown of Springfield, Illinois.
It would only be fitting for Obama to celebrate Lincoln, and since they are both from Illinois it is not a political stretch to make the connection.
Plus, Obama would be crazy not to capitalize on the image of one of our most popular presdents. There are several great reasons for Obama to constantly refer to Lincoln in his campaign:
1. The race issue. Many would say that if it weren't for Lincoln, we would not have a Barack Obama running for president.
2. The uniter angle. Lincoln fought hard to keep this country together during a civil war. Certainly we are not in a civil war, but the country is extremely divided. Obama has already made it clear that he is making it a priority to bridge these differences.
3. The experience factor. This from Political Wire:
"Obama was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2004 after spending eight years in Springfield in the Illinois General Assembly. Lincoln became the nation's 16th president and led America through the Civil War after a single term in Congress and eight years in the state Legislature.""Obama was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2004 after spending eight years in Springfield in the Illinois General Assembly.
